Kathy Grant Mahon is first and foremost one of
Canada's leading Female Gospel artists; she is
not only a singer, songwriter, producer and fashion
model, but she is also a management consultant, IT
project manager, business analyst, publicist, marketing
and media relations specialist and freelance gospel
journalist.
Kathy has over 20 years experience in the entertainment
industry and continues to build an impressive resume
with each event and activity. For three years, she
wrote articles and conducted artist interviews for
Gospelcity.com, one of Gospel music's leading online ezine.
She interviewed lengendary artist Andrae Crouch,
Bishop Clarence McClendon, Shirley Caesar, BeBe Winans,
CeCe Winans and Yolanda Adams.
As a self-managed, self-booked and self-publicized
artist, Kathy was successful in guiding her
musical career to perform at events with major
Gospel and Secular Artists such as Commissioned,
Vickie Winans, Carmen, Mary Mary, James Brown,
Ray Charles and others. She's headlined for several
years at the second largest Blues Festival in North America
- Cisco Systems Bluesfest, the Gospel Festival
of Repentigny, the Niagara Folk Festival, Ottawa
Folk Festival, the Ottawa Tulip Festival and others.
Kathy has traveled internationally to speak at music
conferences in Toronto; Montreal; Kingston, Jamaica;
Gaithersburg and Baltimore, Maryland; and Orlando, Florida.
Kathy has also toured internationally with the
Harlem Gospel Singers on their European tour.
As an artist she has written and co-produced her
projects. Her debut CD containing 19 tracks were
all written by Kathy and co-produced by her. The album
titled "Free" received nominations from the
MAJA Awards organization and was awarded Canadian National
Gospel Song 2003 (Rise Above) and 2005 (Ah Lord);
She has also been awarded Female Gospel Artist of the Year (2005).
She received Best Gospel Album nominations from the Vibe
Awards (2004), Canadian Gospel Music Awards (CGMA) (2004)
and MAJA Awards (2005); in addition to Best Urban Gospel
MAJA Awards (2005), Artist of the Year MAJA Awards
(2005) and Album of the Year MAJA Awards (2005).
Kathy closed out 2005 with a series of noteworthy
performances. After receiving her Maja Awards
(Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year) in
September 2005, Kathy was invited to New York,
Los Angeles and Ft. Lauderdale, where she performed
for actress Denise Nicholas, former NYC Mayor David
Dinkins, Percy Sutton (former owner of the Apollo Theatre),
Pierce Sutton (owner of WBLS Radio) and U.S. Congressman
Charles Rangle at the Malcolm X family event; Hollywood
actors Danny Glover, Michael Beach, Loretta Devine,
Cheryl Lee Ralph and others were in attendance at
the Black Aids Institute Awards in Los Angeles, where
Kathy performed on stage with Gospel great Tata Vega, R&B
crooner Tony Terry and jazz great Barbara Mason;
Stellar award winning Gospel Diva Dottie Peoples,
Vickie Winans and the legendary Andrae Crouch were
on hand at the Bobby Jones International Gospel Industry
Retreat where, Kathy lit-up the house with her vocal
performance and wowed the crowd while walking the
runway wearing two fabulous PAN ZAI fashions.
Kathy is now the signature voice and guest model
for PAN ZAI, performing musically as well as modeling
in PAN ZAI's dynamic fashion shows. She is also in the
studio again, recording her second CD.
Fresh from her recent appearance at the First Ladies
Summit White House Fashion show held at the Capitol
Building in Washington DC, where she modeled for World
Famous Designer PAN ZAI, Gospel music's foremost celebrity
designer, Kathy will be returning home to celebrate her
successful journey in the United States with a Good Friday
concert at one of Ottawa Ontario's premiere Blues Nightclubs.
This is the 2nd annual Good Friday Gospel Show at Tucsons;
last year's show was sold out standing room only. This year
Kathy will appear with her new band and there will be door
prizes and raffles.
Kathy and her Manager Johnny Blanks (J.B.) are a dynamic
duo teaming up for speaking engagements and fashion shows.
They cover a variety of topics from "Letting Go to Grow -
How to Overcome Your Fears and Live a Successful Life"; "Getting
Past Your Past", as well as a multitude of topics on the
Entertainment and Gospel Music Industry.
